This is where it gets dicey! Faust, representing all of humanity, is moving at lightning pace with discoveries and innovations which are vastly increasing our collective knowledge and material pleasures. However, at what cost? The argument continues; is our exploitation of Mother Earth and her resources for the ultimate good of society or just one last gasp for a moment of enjoyment before it all collapses? Is global warming caused by our excessive material desires or just part of the natural atmospheric changes? More, more, more, and at what point do we take our foot off the gas pedal? I’ve driven motorcycles, cars and small trucks over two million miles, and for the life of me, have never been able to figure out where all these people are going? Blame or no blame, who is to say, but it would appear that we all individually and collectively had better start seriously thinking about this and fasten our seatbelts. Goethe, the great German polymath, saw humankind solving this riddle of technological advancement and not being our endgame, but he departed almost two centuries ago and the jury is still out…
