Information…

Hands holding smartphone projecting glowing digital globe

Information is knowledge communicated or received concerning a particular fact or circumstance like news; and knowledge gained through study, communication, research, instruction is factual data. Practically speaking, we humans depend on information constantly as we or someone else feeds it into our brain for us to sustain ourselves. However, there has been an eternal debate concerning the difference between information, knowledge and wisdom. Okay, so you are going for a long walk and the weather is questionable so you check the weather app. It’s clear now, but rain is expected within the hour. Now you have a decision, do I carry an umbrella (I personally don’t like to carry anything), put on a rain jacket (it makes me sweat too much) or take my chances? Maybe I get lucky or get soaking wet and catch a cold, it’s my choice. If it doesn’t rain we could say I wisely knew from experience that my chances are really good. If it rains and I get wet then I would be foolish not to listen to the weather predictions. The point is that information, knowledge and wisdom are all intertwined as now smartphones and internet connections are almost universal. Welcome to the ‘Information Age’, where we have no excuses for not gathering information to make informed decisions which will enrich our experience in the here and now and the future…
