IP usually refers to either Internet Protocol or Intellectual Property, but for me it stands for Image & Paragraph which is presented as the AlohaDailyDose. This is just part of the REAL (Reflect, Educate, Activate, & Liberate) daily practice we are proposing. Journaling is incredibly valuable and something I’m so glad I have finally begun. It literally forces you to become contemplative. If you only read one of these Daily Doses and it encourages you to not only contemplate, but to begin recording your thoughts, then this project is successful. It has therapeutic value of low-cost, evidence-based intervention that reduces stress, anxiety, and PTSD symptoms by facilitating emotional processing. It improves physical health (e.g., lowered blood pressure, stronger immunity) and mental well-being by fostering self-awareness, regulating emotions, and enhancing mindfulness. Daily or weekly writing sessions of 15-20 minutes can significantly improve mood and cognitive functioning. (PositivePsychology…) Humans are not only Sentient (the ability to feel), but are also Sapient; the ability to think, reason, or possess wisdom. Journaling implores you to think and reason with hopefully the goal of becoming more wise. For me it is simply a conversation with myself which I’m sharing with others, but not taken lightly. I do thought provoking, meditative walking between 4-5 miles daily on top of 2-4 hours of study with the goal of insights that have value. My ‘Golden Years’ began recently affording me the time and fortunately the remaining energy to pursue this adventure.
