Geopolitics: The combination of geographic and political factors influencing or delineating a country or region. Historically these are the concerns generally behind all wars. A people, unified as a country or some other common interest like race, religion, or cultural identity, attack another significant entity to gain geographical advantages. These advantages are generally related to food, energy, and transportation of goods and services. The talking heads, the fourth estate, or media may disguise the reasons for war, for a variety of reasons, but generally speaking, wars are about resources. In 1950 the United States was about 6% of the global population and was 50% of the world GDP. Now, in 2026, the United States is about 4% of population and 25% of GDP. In a world that shared resources equally it would mean that 1% of the population would be producing and consuming 1% of goods and services. Of course, we all know that that is unrealistic, but consuming 8 times your place on the planet now reduced to 6 times your place is a little extreme and that could be why we see so much turmoil and perhaps the changing of the guard!
