About 30 years ago I had the great fortune of hearing Zig Ziglar speak. He was one of the major motivational speakers at the time and that 30 minute lecture has affected me ever since. He has many famous and invaluable quotes, but one in particular from that brief interaction has motivated me ever since. When he was asked how he was doing his response was, “Fantastic, but I’m improving!” Bruce Lee said you have to empty the cup before you can refill it which is a similar concept; “Empty your cup so that it may be filled; become devoid to gain totality.” No matter your physical, mental, emotional, psychological, or spiritual state of mind you have to always be open to grow and expand your abilities, capacities, and opportunities. We all experience difficulties and obstacles, but these are just part of the learning process to reinforce and strengthen our determination, if for nothing else to make it from one day to the next. Zig Ziglar and Bruce Lee were both resolutely committed to self improvement on a moment to moment basis and this is what we can imbibe from their grace…
