The Dutch humanist Erasmus popularized the Greek proverb about risk; ‘a slip twixt (between) the cup and the lip!’ In other words there really is danger at every step in life and recognizing this is valuable. Financial advisors are bound to explain to you the varieties of risk or danger when investing. Of course then there is the popular saying, ‘no risk, no reward!’ Tension comes from Latin for stretching which is something we can and cannot control, but is constant and inevitable while living. The vast majority of us begin as pawns and it is incumbent upon us to make decisions which will protect and project us successfully. Success is undoubtably a tricky concept and one each of us has to decide for ourselves. However, the point here is that despite all our endeavors and intentions, we have to find some degree of satisfaction and use that to keep pushing ourselves to a higher and/or loftier place.
