Unity…

Unity: oneness of mind, feeling, etc., as among a number of persons; concord, harmony, or agreement. In order to create unity among humanity we are going to have to have common denominators; ideas and propositions that we all basically agree on. Conceptually sounds nice, impossible so far in human history. In 1947 the Doomsday Clock (when hypothetically reaching midnight humanity will self-destruct) was established as a reaction to the fear of a nuclear arms race between the USA and the then Soviet Union. In 2007 the hand-setting was adjusted considering the catastrophic disruptions from climate change. Whether or not one accepts that climate change is due to humanity, the results we are experiencing are the same and preparations still have to be strategized. So here are two issues which we all (or a serious majority of us) need to consider: nuclear armageddon and catastrophic climate change. So how do we get on the same page? Not that we necessarily get freaked out and live in constant fear, but start educating ourselves about how each of us individually can make a difference. I dare to say this, but the vast majority of us, particularly in the so-called First World, have to reduce consumption! Think twice about what and how much you are eating? How much water are you using according to your diet? Can I streamline my physical movement to use less energy? Do I really need a newer and bigger car or a bigger or second house? Read about ways in which each of us can have even the smallest effect on protecting our environment. Drops of water wear away the stone! These are monolithic issues concerning all of us and we have to join together to sustain human life as we know it!
