Emanuel Kant in his Categorical Imperative, Hobbes, Locke & Rousseau and finally Hegel lay out the complete discourse defining human liberty and freedoms essentially under the broad term of the social contract. The roles of the State and the individuals within them can be explained as the basis for the western political view called ‘liberal democracy’. Here, defining ‘liberal democracy’, as a sovereign state which grants a broad degree of individual freedoms and simultaneously protects first principles. Further understanding that the individual takes precedence over the group and that individuals cannot reach universal agreement over first principles which is incumbent upon the State to keep in balance. Depending on the percentage of the populace in your particular area that agree on a certain first principle like religion or imperialism or non aggression then if you are in the majority, no problem.
