Not to be subjugated; by another or others, by economics, by ill health, by some form of confinement, from ignorance, the ravages of mother nature and on and on. We want to be free from death and its finality. We want our family, friends and community to be unencumbered and free to interact and love one another. We want to be free from the constant barrage of advertising and media 24/7 convincing us to buy this or do that. I’m sure not all share these desires as there is another element that wishes to dominate and subjugate which are generally referred to as ruthless. So history, to a certain degree, is the story of the ruth struggling to tolerate and survive the ruthless. This situation has not changed, but the great mass of humanity, knuckled under by the oppression of the ruthless, gradually over time has gained greater freedoms and freedoms which we are bound to protect and pass on to future generations…
